Exhale Society was opened in January 2024 to provide the Arizona cannabis community with a safe and welcoming space. We are incredibly grateful to all of you, our Members, for your support, time, and trust over the past nine months. Unfortunately, Exhale Society is closed for the foreseeable future due to reasons outside of our control.
It is incredibly disappointing and upsetting that the City of Tempe has incorrectly labelled us, Exhale Society, as a Tobacco Retailer.

A City of Tempe Judge rules Exhale Society a private members club. Even after this ruling the city has continued to harass us, our landlord and neighboring tenants. The city has asked us to continue the variance process to become a tobacco retailer even after the judges ruling. The variance meeting is Wednesday October 30th at 6:00 p.m. at the City of Tempe Council Chambers. We welcome any and all support at the meeting. We feel this battle with the city is bigger than us and we are trying to pave the way for safe and secure places for the cannabis community to consume.
Exhale Society has NEVER sold tobacco or allowed tobacco smoking indoors and never will.
Since our first citation in mid-February 2024, we have exhausted all formal and informal methods to help the City of Tempe understand that we do NOT sell tobacco and do NOT allow for the consumption of tobacco and are not a smoking establishment.
We hope to be able work through this with the City of Tempe via our legal team, as all previous attempts in communicating our situation with the City of Tempe has failed.
Our goal has always been to establish a Private Members’ Club that is cannabis friendly. We will continue to make every effort possible to operate legally and within the rules and regulations of the City of Tempe and the State of Arizona.
The citations we have received have never put our Members in any danger. All citations given to Exhale Society are Municipal Code violations, NOT Criminal violations. These citations never posed any risk to Members.
